About the artist

Upon immigrating to Canada in 1967 at the age of 31, Mr. Guilhauman continued his career in the fine arts. Influenced by post-war German Expressionism, his painting was to evolve 38 years later to its present-day recognized form of realism.

Mr. Guilhauman launched his Canadian debut with his first solo exhibition of paintings in 1967 at the University of Ottawa. This was followed with consecutive annual shows at the former Waterloo Lutheran University in Waterloo until 1973.

From 1974 to 1979, Mr. Guilhauman supplemented his artist's income by teaching painting as a fine arts instructor at Conestoga College in Doon, Ontario. During this time, his work was continuously shown in solo exhibitions and in group showings throughout the larger cities of Ontario.

From the early 1980's to the beginning of the 1990's, Mr. Guilhauman lived in the Ottawa Valley where he established a landmark Fine Art Gallery and Academy of Painting.

Mr. Guilhauman's curious, artistic nature propelled him in 1993 to enroll at Acadia University in Wolfville, Nova Scotia to study philosophy and literature.

In 2007 Mr Guilhauman moved to Lake Clear, Ontario where he currently lives and works.
